Hailstorm 14th October 2021
A tornado warned intense supercell hailstorm impacted northwest and western Sydney on Thursday 14th March 2021.
Emerging from the Colo region, it passed through Londonderry and Richmond. It intensified and tracked through Marsden Park, Schofields and Quakers Hill through to Blacktown vicinity. Hail to the size of golf balls and some larger devastated numerous suburbs damaging vehicles stuck in rush hour. The fast movement of the hailstorm in some cases meant hail damage was not as severe except in the southern portion of the hailstorm where hail drifts occurred.
Adelaide Supercell 28th October 2021
A series of hailstorms passed through Adelaide on the 28th October – two weeks after the NW Sydney hailstorm. Starting from the NW, several cells, one significant dumped hailstones up to cricket ball size in the Elizabeth region of northern Adelaide suburbs. The damage extended to thousands of vehicles. The impact on houses raised the damage bill into the millions of dollars. The repairs of houses and vehicles are ongoing even through to 2023!
